On July 21, a consignment of lubricants arrived directly at Tianjin Port by sea. Under the supervision of Xingang Customs under Tianjin Customs, the goods quickly completed transit examination and release formalities, and later exited China via the scheduled freight train bound for Khorgos from Tianjin.

As a key hub connecting land and sea routes under the Belt and Road Initiative, Tianjin Port operates multiple China-Europe (China-Central Asia) freight trains departing via ports including Erenhot, Alashankou and Khorgos, linking major destinations across many Eurasian countries with an increasingly robust international rail network. Since the start of this year, Tianjin Customs has targeted bottlenecks and difficulties restricting train operations, continuously optimized supervision models and improved service efficiency to fully support the high-quality operation of freight trains.

“In the early years, there were only a limited number of scheduled train routes covering few destinations, coupled with relatively single logistics solutions, leaving enterprises with limited options for arranging international transportation,” said Shao Guangli, Business Manager of Tianjin Jiaheng Logistics Co., Ltd. “Today, we have access to a growing network of scheduled trains reaching more destinations. Combined with multiple transport modes such as sea-sea multimodal transport and sea-rail intermodal transport, we can flexibly design optimal transport routes tailored to different cargo types and destinations. The adaptability and stability of our overall logistics solutions have been greatly improved. The continuous innovation in customs supervision and consistent quality services also bolster our confidence in developing new routes and attracting new cargo sources.”

To ensure stable and efficient train departures, Tianjin Customs has actively established a coordination mechanism involving customs, port, railway and enterprises, and deepened coordinated supervision with customs at other border ports. Goods carried by full-schedule trains are prioritized for examination and release, facilitating the formation of a port network covering 38 cities across 20 Eurasian countries. Since the beginning of this year, Tianjin Customs has supported the launch of the scheduled Tianjin–Alashankou freight train, bringing the number of regularly operated scheduled train routes to four. It actively supports the development of the Tianjin China-Europe Railway Express Assembly Center by setting up a dedicated green channel for China-Europe (China-Central Asia) trains to provide one-stop services, enabling immediate declaration, examination and release for train cargo upon arrival.

Statistics show that in the first half of this year, Tianjin Customs supervised the dispatch of 394 China-Europe (China-Central Asia) freight trains carrying 42,464 TEUs, representing a year-on-year increase of 7.9% and 8.0% respectively.
